'Fugitive of the Mind' by Millie Mountain

'Fugitive of the Mind' marks the debut independent, full-length release from singer and songwriter, Millie Mountain.

For the Brixton, South London-based artist, 'Fugitive of the Mind' serves as the culmination of years of music-making with Millie having racked up a considerable amount of releases, collaborations and live performances that have seen her grace a selection of iconic stages and festivals across the UK including having performed at the Troubadour in London, Manchester's Band on The Wall, Pizza Express Jazz Club and the Jazz Café.

As a fervent live performer and an ardent creator, Millie's is a sound that has never been relegated to simply one style - adept and gifted enough to be able to draw from a broad musical palette that ultimately pays tribute to a litany of the influences and inspirations that have helped shape her music to date.

Whether it be through the three-track collaborative effort, 'Like Water', alongside German producer and beatmaker, Spaze Windu, to Millie's collaboration with producer and musican Tom Ford and their single 'Running', Millie finds a way to consistently adapt and subsequently expose a different facet of her own musical persona with each new project.  Frequent releases alongside the hip-hop production ensemble, The Mouse Outfit, have even resulted in touring dates alongside the band in support of their tracks 'Got Me Lookin'' and 'Feel', amongst others.

'Fugitive of the Mind' sees Millie taking centre-stage over the course of the album's twelve tracks.  Boasting some choice songwriting and production collaborations with, amongst others, the aforementioned Spaze Windu and The Mouse Outfit producer, Chini, the album presents a staggering and imaginative take on contemporary R&B and neo-soul that further serves as a statement of intent for the young artist.

As described by Mountain previously, 'Fugitive of the Mind' is an album "about freeing oneself from the mind".  A concept that elegantly allows the artist to explore themes of identity, self-confidence and address her own insecurities through a collection of impassioned pieces.  The songs throughout are a fantastic display of personality-driven soul gems that present a fascinating depiction of Millie Mountain as an emerging artist, just beginning to explore the vast capabilities she has at her disposal.
