In Focus ::: Muse Records

As part of Blue-in-Green:RADIO's record label series, In Focus, we take time out to celebrate the incredible catalogue of Muse Records.

Compiled and mixed by UK Vibe's Steve Williams - following his fantastic presentation of Blue Note's Tone Poet series last month - Steve shines a well-deserved light on Muse's phenomenal releases.  Established in 1972 by record producer Joe Fields in New York City, the tirelessly prolific label was responsible for over 500 albums between the years of 1972 to 1995 - more than 200 releases in the 1970s alone!  

With projects from soul-jazz and hard bop to some stunning vocal releases, as well as Latin and fusion projects, this two-hour show serves as a fantastic introduction to the label's inspired music.  Showcased through 19 tracks, the selections delve into seminal releases by Chick Corea, Mark Murphy, Catalyst, Hank Jones, Eric Kloss, Hermeto Pascoal, Woody Shaw, Joe Chambers, Mickey Tucker, Cedar Walton, João Donato, Bobby Pierce, Walter Bishop Jr, Phil Woods, James Moody, Richard Davis, Wallace Roney and Dave Pike.
